Load Limits

To preserve the integrity of our roadways and ensure public safety, the Worley Highway District enforces load limits, especially during the spring thaw and other vulnerable times of the year. These restrictions help prevent costly damage to road surfaces caused by heavy vehicles when the ground beneath is soft or unstable. We appreciate your cooperation in observing posted limits, and we encourage all commercial and agricultural operators to stay informed by checking current advisories and updates on this page.

Legal Load Standards During Load Limit Season

• No more than 10,000 pounds on the steering axle.
• 300 POUNDS MAX per inch width of the tire, as labeled on the tire.
• 25 MPH Speed Restriction

Exceptions to Weight and Speed Restrictions

Below are exceptions to posted vehicle weight and speed restrictions as allowed by Idaho Code 49-1005:

• Vehicle weight and speed restrictions shall not apply to emergency vehicles or school buses.
• Providers of essential services shall be allowed to apply for a permit that will  allow the provider to haul half-loads at restricted speeds. Each vehicle must be issued separate permits. Each vehicle must have a valid permit on board during vehicle operations within the boundaries of Worley Highway District. Failure to comply with the conditions of this permit will revoke the permit and result in full weight enforcement under Idaho Code 49-1005. The following vehicles are entitled to apply for essential service permits: providers of heating fuel and propane; hay or feed providers; septic pumping services; and garbage trucks.

Other special conditions:

• Speed limit-25 mph for all trucks loaded or empty on roads posted with weight limits. Minimum 20 degrees or lower for two days without thawing in daytime.
